What is DECT?

DECT, or Digitally Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications, operates on the 1.9 GHz band. This band has not been available for electronic consumer products until recently when the US government began to grant licenses for use. Since this band remains virtually clear, it provides users in the US with a far better experience than using home phones on 900 megahertz (MHz), 2.4 GHz or 5.8 GHz bands, where cordless telephones often encounter interference from many electronic devices today (devices such as garage door openers, cell phones, microwave ovens, baby monitors, and wireless LANs (Wi-Fi))

DECT is not experimental; it is a proven technology that has been used throughout Europe and other parts of the world for years and is expected to improve the U.S. phone user’s experience for many years to come.
